Three orcas move in a line across dark, glassy water. The water around them is still. Only soft thin ripples and wake lines show they are moving slowly, deliberately. They are not hunting or breathing. They are just traveling silently with the only sound in the air is coming from their breath rising off their backs and disappearing into the still and silent fog.

“Be Still” is a command the painting gives, not just a title. Its what the coast does when a pod passes - everyone goes quiet. You stop talking, stop moving, and watch that moment when time slows and all you hear is water and their soft breaths. This painting recreates that pause. The longer you look, the stiller you become.

This moment is inspired by a time that does not yet exist but yearn to experience. A moment on my bucket list. To watch and be in the presence of these beautiful creatures.

An original 18”×14”x1.5” oil painting on canvas. Varnished for UV protection, signed and dated on the back. Hanging hardware installed (ready to hang). Sides are painted a solid Charcoal.
